EU HOMs visit of the Andermatt Swiss Alps project and the Oberalp Pass in the canton of Uri
In the framework of the Presidency of the Council of the European Union, the Embassy of Luxembourg in Switzerland, together with the canton of Uri, organized, on 11 December 2015, a visit of the Andermatt Swiss Alps project and the Oberalp Pass.
Andermatt Swiss Alps is extending this charming high-alpine village to create a first-rate holiday destination. It offers broad activity and lifestyle pursuits, an array of hotels, apartment houses, chalets and an ecologically-developed 18-hole golf course. The Oberalp Pass (2044 m) is a high mountain pass in the Swiss Alps connecting the cantons of Graubünden and Uri between Disentis and Andermatt.
20 representatives, most of them with spouses, participated in this excursion to Uri, where they met the cantonal authorities (the head of government, Dr Heidi Z'graggen, the councillor and head of the economical direction, Mr Urban Camenzind, and the head of administration, Mr Willy Lussmann) in the morning and had a ride with the Matterhorn Gotthard railway up to the Oberalp Pass where they enjoyed a lunch together.
The CEO of Andermatt Swiss Alps company, Mr Franz-Xaver Simmen, presented the project in the afternoon followed by an apero in the luxurious hotel "The Chedi Andermatt".
